How long is needed for an occasional encounter to be considered a long-lasting one?

In the tidal area, where the boundary between land and sea constantly is shifting, accidental encounters between different bodies is a daily matter. Inspired by the evolutionary theories of symbiosis – that new kinds of cells, tissues, organs and species primarily evolve through the long-lasting intimacy of strangers – the work is a reflection on the relationships in this liminal area and how they potentially could be the initiation of new species.
