Maria Ångerman is an artist and filmmaker, currently based in Vaasa, Finland. She is known for her immersive moving image work that examines the complex relationship between the human and the natural world. Her practice adresses loss, transformation, adaptability and survival and navigates a delicate territory between documentary fact and poetic fiction. In 2014 she obtained her masters degree from a research program in film from the Netherlands Film Academy. Her previous educational background is in Fine Arts studies at Nykarleby Polytechnic of Applied Sciences. She worked during several years in Barcelona where she exhibited extensively. Her work has also been shown in Brazil, France, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Senegal, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.
